Co-Parenting Access and Records Exchange

A record neither parent can rewrite.

Expenses, payments and messages, kept in a log that only ever grows. No edits. No deletions. Corrections sit beside the original.

01 — The record

A correction sits beside the original. It never replaces it.

Every action becomes a numbered entry, sealed with a hash of the entry before it.

#118 expense.added $180.00 · Dentist prev 7c1e…8a0b hash a4f2…c091 #119 message.sent read 4:09 PM prev a4f2…c091 hash 3b90…41de #120 payment.confirmed $90.00 · confirms #119 prev 3b90…41de hash e57c…b214 #121 expense.corrected $165.00 · amends #118 prev e57c…b214 hash 9d10…7fa3 amends — it does not replace Change any entry and every hash after it stops matching. Entry #118 stays exactly where it was.
RULE 01

Only ever added to

Nothing is edited or removed — not by either parent, not by us.

RULE 02

Every entry sealed

Timestamped and hash-chained. Attachments are hashed at upload.

RULE 03

Belongs to the case

One parent closing their account never erases the shared history.

9:41 ‹ Case Messages UNREAD MESSAGES Can you take Emma to the dentist Thursday at 4? 4:02 PM Yes. I’ll confirm with the office tomorrow. 4:09 PM · Read Dentist invoice sealed a4f2…c091 · 4:11 PM THEM Can you take Emma to the dent… Booked. 4pm Thursday. 4:14 PM · Read Message Send

02 — Messaging

“I never saw it” stops being available.

  • Read receipts cannot be switched offThe time a message was read enters the record.
  • Undo before it sends, never afterAn optional five or ten second window. Then it stands.
  • Attachments are sealedHashed at upload, so a file is provably the one sent.
  • Pin privatelyMark what matters. The other parent never sees your pins.

03 — What’s inside

Live today, and what’s coming next.

Every item says plainly where it stands. Nothing is described as finished when it isn’t.

Expenses & ledger

Log it, split it, attach the receipt. Your own categories, several currencies, and a balance that counts confirmed payments only.

Live

Messages

Attachments, replies, search, pins, and receipts that can’t be turned off. Group threads with family or a professional when you need them.

Live

A moment before you send

A heated message gets one quiet nudge to reread it. Nothing is scored, nothing is stored, and it never rewrites your words.

Live

Child information

Allergies, medications, school, insurance — with documents and photos. Both parents see it; emergency contacts see only what’s critical.

Live

Parenting schedule

Week on/off, alternating weekends, 2-2-3. Run a summer schedule over your regular one, repeating every year, and the calendar resolves which governs each day.

Live

The notice chain

Every request to change a day, the deadline it carried, and the answer — or the silence — that followed. Silence is never recorded as agreement.

Live

Exchange records

Late, missed and swapped handovers recorded as they happen, with the other parent’s response attached to each one.

Live

Court packet

A dated, paginated export built for filing. Choose which sections to include — the packet then states, in its own voice, exactly what was left out and how much of it.

Live

Private journal

Your own dated notes, sealed the moment you write them and visible to nobody. Enter one into the shared record when you choose — or export the lot, with its proof attached.

Live

Case documents

The court order, the custody agreement, the school registration. Each one fingerprinted, so the packet can prove the file it cites is the file you filed.

Live

Record integrity

See the seal for yourself: how many entries, whether the chain verifies, and the fingerprint of the record as it stands today.

Live

Calendar export

Parenting time in your own calendar app, as a file you keep. Not a live link that hands anyone a standing view of where your children are.

Live

Professional access

Scoped access for your lawyer or a mediator, granted section by section, instead of emailed screenshots. Free for the professional, always.

Live

Start on your own

You don’t need their permission to begin. Record from day one, name them, and everything folds together the day they join — with no deadlines waiting to ambush them.

Live

Documented calls

Audio and video inside the app, so neither of you has the other’s number. Who called, when, and for how long goes on the record. What was said does not.

What a separated couple actually pays

Nearly every co-parenting app charges per parent, which means the parent who wants a record has to persuade the other one to pay to be recorded. That is the reason so many of these accounts sit half-empty. We charge for the case instead.

Per household, per yearHow it’s billed
C.A.R.E.$199One price for the case — covers both parents
Custody X Change$144 – $288Per parent, or a family plan
TalkingParents$154 – $707Per parent · free tier withdrawn March 2026
AppClose$192Per parent · free tier withdrawn January 2026
CoParenter$200 – $312Per parent, or a shared annual plan
OurFamilyWizard$220 – $600Per parent — the second buys separately

Published prices as at September 2026, converted to a full year for two parents where a product bills monthly or per person. Check each provider before relying on these figures.

05 — For lawyers & mediators

Evidence you can test, not a folder of screenshots.

When a client hands you exported messages, the first question is whether they are complete and unaltered. Usually nobody can tell.

C.A.R.E. answers that with sequence and hashing. It does not make anything automatically admissible — that is for the court — but the usual authenticity objections have a factual answer.

It is free for you, and it always will be. We don’t pay for recommendations and we don’t want a fee sitting between you and your client’s interests — a record is worth less the moment someone can ask what you were paid to suggest it.

  • Representing a party LiveYour client grants access, section by section. You see their case without them emailing you anything.
  • Acting as a neutral LiveMediators and parenting coordinators can be granted access by both parties, seeing what each has allowed.
  • Notice & response history LiveEvery schedule request, the notice given, and the answer or silence that followed.
  • One list, every client LiveAll your matters in one place, sorted by what moved most recently, each showing exactly which sections you were granted.

06 — Pricing

One price, for the case.

Not per parent. The one who wants a record shouldn’t have to talk the other into paying for it — and family members you invite are never charged at all. Nothing is charged today while the app is in testing.

On your own

Free

Until your co-parent joins. However long that takes.

  • Your private journal
  • Expenses and receipts

Both parents

$19.99 /month

Three months free once they join. Then $19.99 a month for the case — about ten dollars each if you split it, or one of you covers it. $199 a year saves you two months.

  • Everything, for both parents
  • Messages, schedule and the notice chain
  • Exchange records and appointments
  • Court packet and calendar export

Lawyers & mediators

Free

For family lawyers, mediators and parenting coordinators. Permanently.

  • Every client who grants you access
  • Neutral access where both consent
  • One list across all your matters
  • Court packets from any case you hold
  • No fee, and no referral payment
For professionals

Never hold a record hostage

Stop paying and the record freezes — it is never locked. You keep reading it, verifying it, and exporting a court packet, for as long as it exists.

Never charge the other parent

One subscription covers the case. If the parent paying it stops, the other can pick it up; neither is ever billed because of what the other did.

No advertising, ever

We won’t sell attention inside a product where people discuss their children.

07 — Roadmap

Published in full, including the parts we haven’t finished.

You’re being asked to trust us with a family record. That starts with being straight about where the product actually is.

ShippedWorking today

  • Append-only record Numbered, timestamped, hash-chained entries you can verify yourself.
  • Expenses & two-sided payments Splits, sealed receipts, your own categories, several currencies, confirmed-only balance.
  • Messaging Read receipts, attachments, replies, pins, search, send delay, and a nudge before a heated message.
  • Parenting schedule Repeating patterns, holidays, and a seasonal schedule that can run every year over the regular one.
  • The notice chain Requests, notice periods, responses and silences, all as entries. Silence never counts as agreement.
  • Actual vs scheduled time Late, missed and swapped exchanges recorded as they happen.
  • Court packet Dated, paginated, with an integrity page — and a plain statement of anything the generator left out.
  • Private journal Sealed as you write, shared only when you choose, exportable with its proof.
  • Case documents Court orders and agreements, fingerprinted so the packet can prove the file it cites.
  • Professional access Scoped access for a representing lawyer or a neutral, granted section by section.
  • Starting on your own Begin before your co-parent joins; everything folds together when they do.
  • Account lifecycle Verified email, closure, and reopening within six years.

NextIn build

  • Android Built cross-platform from the start; in testing now, behind iPhone by a few weeks.
  • Documented calls Audio and video in the app. Neither parent has the other’s number; the call goes on the record, the conversation does not.
  • Paying for it The subscription above. Free while it doesn’t exist.

LaterIn queue

  • Recorded calls Only where both parents switch it on, and only where the law where you live allows it.
  • Daily external anchor The day’s record sealed somewhere we don’t control, so integrity is verifiable without trusting us at all.

08 — Deliberately absent

Three things we won’t build.

NOT COMING

Child location tracking

Requested more than once. The answer is no. A record of what happened is not surveillance of a child.

NOT COMING

Charging the other parent

C.A.R.E. records what is owed and what was paid. Money never moves without the payer initiating it.

NOT COMING

Deleting a sent message

Not even if unread — the notification already reached their phone. That’s what the undo window is for.

09 — Get in touch

Tell us what we’ve got wrong.

C.A.R.E. is in testing on iOS. If you’re a parent who needs this, or a professional whose clients do, we’d like to hear from you — especially if something here wouldn’t survive contact with a real file.
